Rendered it out some more

This is as far as i'm going to take it. I'm happy with it now. Although, I'm starting to get bored of it. The next one will be better. I just defined a few parts and attempted to correct the things that I was told needed corrections. I also brightened it up, played with the curves and added a more elaborate depth of field.

art history and photoshop update

I'm almost done with the my final, I'm really happy with the progress I made. It's really weird looking at the before and afters. At the start I thought the drawing I had was "good" but now that I look at it, it really looks like I don't even know what to think anymore. I'm sure I could have made a better traditional drawing if I did a couple of overlays, but I think I was just too lazy to do that. Oh well, in the end, it turned out decent...Now that I know how to paint, I'm sure the next one will be a lot better.

Art History and Photoshop Final Work in Progress

Here is a work in progress for my Art History and Photoshop Final. I'm still working on this stuff. It's mind boggling looking at before and afters. So....this dude is supposed to be a slave gladiator. He doesn't have a lot of money so he goes around and finds stuff that he can put to good use. I still have more character development to go through. Which means more ideation :].

Minotaur Sketch and Art History Stuff

Just a minotaur sketch inspired by Carlos Huante. He's one of my favorite artists. Carlos just gets right in there and makes these really believable characters. 

The other stuff is for my Art History class. We had to design a character from the Epic of Gilgamesh. I chose to make Gilgamesh. He ended up being a generic dude with a 12 pack abs and ripped delts with some clothing on. The other character was Humbaba which was a muscular dude with a lions head. *yawn* I know. It's really creative.... Where is the character design in this? Anyways....Hope you like it!

Old work (Pre-Gnomon)

This is my work from October 2010 to August 2011. During the first month of my computer animation program at the Los Angeles Film School, I realized that I didn't want to be a visual effects guy anymore. I wanted to be the dude that got paid to make those bad ass monsters and robots. I was willing to do ANYTHING to become an artist. ANYTHING.   Long story short, I worked my ass off until I was dead tired. I sculpted on Zbrush day and night. Modeled whenever I was bored or dead tired of Zbrush.  It was a struggle, but I think it was a great experience.

At one point my art work was so shitty, that I just wanted to give up. Fortunately, whenever I wanted to stop, that inner critic in my head would say," You're a pussy if you give up! You're not pussy....or are you? Man, that would always keep me going.

Well....Here is my work before I got accepted into Gnomon. It doesn't represent my current artistic abilities, but  it's still comedic to look back at this stuff. Hope you like it!

About me

I wish I could say, " I have been drawing all my life." But that would be a lie. Growing up, I had many aspirations. I wanted to be a writer. I wanted to be a lawyer. Shoot, I even wanted to be a plain old doctor. Never did I think that I would become an artist. But here I am, walking along the never-ending road of the artist.

My name is Daniel Sindo. I'm currently attending the 3 year program at the Gnomon School of Visual Effects. I am currently in my first term.  I want to be a 3d conceptual artist. This blog will be used to track my progress as an artist. If you want to know more about me, I will be posting more about myself in the future. Stay tuned!
